Members of different groups met with one another to share their respective group's ideas, and sketches began to form soon after.

During the class session immediately following these mixed group conversations, Rebecca presented various sketches to the class.

The sketches represented a mix of her own artistic touch and a reflection of the ideas presented by various groups.
This sketching process involved a trip to the second floor of the Watson building to see the physical space we would be working with.
We had originally envisioned having the entire span of the wall available for our mural, however the existence of murals from other classes caused our available space to be broken into various panels.
As a result, we decided to take advantage of this opportunity by using each available section of the wall to represent a moment or theme in North Carolina environmental justice history. The images on the mural would no longer have to be entirely coherent because natural breaks in the wall - like doorways or murals from other classes - allowed us to introduce new themes on each panel.
