Our class project doesn't end with the mural... that's only the beginning! Students are in the process of developing multiple projects in conjunction with the mural, like poetry, songs, films, and more!

A portion of our class on April 25 was devoted to working on final projects. While the completion of the mural is our main priority and all students are involved in its planning and fruition, a number of students are working on projects of their own, inspired by the mural.

Students split into groups based on their final project ideas and brainstormed next steps.

Several artistic students have chosen to pursue painting as their final project, and will contribute several hours each to the mural. The process involves sketching, mapping and measuring out the design on the walls, and of course painting the images.

Two students are interested in researching significant quotes that best represent the material covered in this course. It is yet to be determined exactly how these quotes will be portrayed.

Another student has chosen to write poetry inspired by the imagery and themes of our mural, and her words will likely be displayed on the mural as part of the images.

With a unique artistic approach, two students have decided to create a film short documenting the experience of creating this mural.

Ben is working on creating a song to accompany our mural.

Another creative student is working on creating music inspired by the mural. His song will add a unique dimension to our mural, giving viewers an even more exciting sensory experience! It will also make our mural accessible to a wider audience, allowing those who cannot see to still be able to experience the mural.

One student is taking a more classic route, writing an essay related to Diego Rivera and his works, a muralist we studied in depth this semester.

To increase publicity for our mural, two students are using technology - one to create this website you're on right now, and another to design a brochure for viewers to browse while visiting the mural.

This class project is so much more than just a mural. The research, the writing, and all of the creative projects developing along with the mural represent the beginnings of an incredible artistic creation that will impact our community is so many ways.
