November 4, 2018: I'm starting a business baby.

Today was marvelous - great weather, spent the day outside, and the start of our little baby business.

Blesséd be the day that the neighbor's dogs don't bark... and today was that day. I didn't set an alarm and sure enough, I didn't wake up until 11:00am. Beautiful. I ate breakfast and then facetimed Randi. She keeps me in the (deadly) loop about Davidson drama and there was no shortage of it today. Mis ojos have been opened.
I asked Cassie if she wanted to go on a walk and we met up around 12:00pm to do so. It was about 75 degrees out and sunny... perfect. We remembered that there are fairs at every plaza on Sunday so we went to Plaza Serrano and explored the fair there.
The fairs are kind of funny because you come across some people selling really nice handmade jewelry or handmade soaps (pictured above) and then some people selling random knitted crap like a sheep finger puppet. The journals pictured above were so dope - the cover was made out of album discs. We also appreciated this bathroom sign.
We both bought soap bars because there was a good deal for them and we figured they serve as nice regalitos (little gifts). We spent quite some time at this fair and then decided we should go out to lunch together because we passed by so many people eating lunch outside and figured we too needed to take advantage of the very nice day.
We walked home to change clothes and grab money and then headed to lunch. And oh what an utter disappointment it was. The service was awful, the food was even worse, and they treated us poorly. Ever tasted a dirt burger? Or perhaps a salad devoid of all flavor? If you haven't, and you're curious, head to bBlue cafe to find out.
This cafe was so promising. They had swings that you could sit on, cute flowers on each table, and the menu looked great. I also enjoyed the messages on their little sugar packets. This one says: "9 in 10 men lie. The 10th one lies too but you like him and you play dumb." Interesting. Is it true? Evidence points to maybe. We may never know. Sadly, despite all of this potential, the lunch was awful and that's one hour of my life I'm never getting back.
The worst part of the lunch was the fact that they tried to rip us off. We noticed that every other table received carrot sticks and dip and we did not. After eating our meal, we called a waitress over and asked if you need to order off the specials menu to get the carrots and she said no, they come with every meal. Well well well, where the frick are my carrot sticks lady?? She was so rude to us! She asked us, "So you want them now...?" Uh yeah, rude bish, we do. We do want the food that we paid for and that everyone else in this restaurant received. Needless to say, we left a 4.6% tip for that meal.
But alas - there are some positive takeaways from this meal. First and foremost, it was vegan! Although I'm not vegan, I'd like to try to eat vegan more often and Cassie is vegetarian and would like to be vegan. The second great part of this lunch is pictured above. The people sitting to our side left behind a half eaten lemon meringue dessert... Now, it's a bit harder to mooch food when you're in a public, well-lit place with waiters constantly circulating. But this was an opportunity we couldn't miss. Cassie and I took turns quickly grabbing the cup, eating a spoonful, and putting it back while the other one spied and made sure the coast was clear. There was a 'special of the day' that included this dessert and tons of people received it and didn't eat it! The restaurant should ASK if people want it or not!!! Many people took 2 or 3 bites and then left it - how fricking wasteful!!!
After lunch, we walked to the fair on the corner of my block. We scoped it out for a while and then entered the plaza and sat on the edge of the fountain (which hasn't had water in it ever by the way) and just observed the scene. There were tons of people there and it was all good vibes. However, we were so dissatisfied with our trash food and trash experience at lunch, that we decided there was only one thing to do: hunt for free food. We walked probably a total of 10 blocks looking for food and although we weren't overly successful, the thrill was incredible.
As we passed restaurants, I would make comments like, "Surely this place produces waste," and Cassie would say, "Oh yeah, definitely." At one point, we passed by the outdoor seating of one place and at the same exact time, I said, "No way they finish that bread," and Cassie said, "They won't eat that bread." We've really got an eye for these things now.

We were able to snag some bread during our hunt! It was buttery and fluffy too ;)
We were a bit tired from walking around all day and being in the sun, so we went home for about an hour and decided to meet back up at 5:00pm. Our plan was to go to the Jardín Botánico and write down some ideas for a food waste project.
We decided to make an Instagram page where we will post our finds and tell the story of how we found them. It's a work in progress but it's a start! We also pondered starting a blog where we can put facts and anecdotes related to food waste, veganism, and stuff of that sort. Our Instagram name is Ya_Gonna_Eat_That? but it's just a little fetus right now.
After writing down some of our plans and ideas, we explored the garden. It was beautiful as always and there were tons of people visiting it. We also took the opportunity to take some dope photos of course. #weloveplants #andyoushouldtoo
This was Cassie's first time at the garden. I'm glad she could see it on such a nice day! We spent a while there and especially enjoyed the eco houses with all types of weird little plants. I poked my arm on a cactus but I wasn't mad at the cactus because cacti just don't know how to hug so they poke you.
Here I am ~candidly~ holding an apple core and resting against this cool white fence. We stayed at the garden until 6:30pm and then walked home because I had to run before it got dark out. Cassie sat this one out so I go-ed it alone. The run was surprisingly pleasant despite how fatigued my legs felt before hand. I passed by the most beautiful fricking man about halfway through my run and that gave me motivation to not slow down. Farewell beautiful brown-eyed man wearing a blue shirt... I may never see you again, but I will never forget our 2 seconds of eye contact.

The sun was setting as I ran and it was very pretty. There were a TON - more than I have ever seen - of people in Rosedal. Some were picnic-ing, some were exercising, some were just walking around... we were all definitely enjoying the beautiful weather and day. I got home around 7:30pm, accidentally shut off all the power in my house then turned it back on, facetimed Clarese, then chilled out.
I ate dinner with Clarisa around 9:00pm and we watched videos of Freddie Mercury singing. She said he was, "So sexi and definitely gay." She also said, "Oooh su cuerpo!" multiple times. At the end of dinner, I gave Clarisa one of the soap bars I bought earlier today and she was so grateful! I gave her the uva scent so she's gon be smelling like grapes.
I did zero homework today but I feel like I took full advantage of the day. It was great to spend the large majority of it outside. I'm excited for more days like these to come and to see how me and Cassie's #freegan project develops and grows!
Song Recommendation of the Day: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen
**To be honest, I don't really like this song but I like the parts when he says "maaamaaa" and "carry on."
P.S. - I had 10 minutes of panic today when I lost my house keys. Clarisa and I were looking all over for them and we were so confused because I came home last night and locked the door and nobody had left the house since. Turns out, they were in my pocket. Love a good scare caused by absent-mindedness.
