The incredible food I ate and the good times I had tonight make up for the absurd amount of time I spent in bed today...

Protecting precious cargo.

It was raining HEAVILY when I woke up and it seemed like my roof was gonna crumble. I pushed out my shutters to look outside and couldn't believe the rain... it looked like what I imagine a hurricane might look like. Rain swirling and slamming down everywhere... I couldn't sleep because of the noise so I started some homework.

Although Julie and I finished writing our essay, we needed to do some final touches with the formatting of the citations and the appendix. So I began working on this until I got dizzy from staring at the tiny text on my screen and then I ate breakfast. It was dark inside the house the whole day because the rain literally never stopped and the sun never came out. The first 9 hours of my day looked a lot like this:

Not only did I spend almost the entire day indoors, but I spent it specifically laying in my bed. I finally finished editing all of the citations around 12:30pm and then I took a nap cuz, well, there wasn't much else to do on a day like today. I slept for a good long time until 2:30pm and then ate lunch. I ate my leftovers from yesterday's lunch and they were yummy!

Gloomy skies.

I'm not even going to lie I spent the next 3 hours truly doing nothing. I really should've worked on my other essay since I couldn't go outside and do anything fun, but I had no motivation. I watched some videos of Jimmy Kimmel talking about the midterms, some food videos of course, and spent a large majority of the time laying in my bed doing nothing. I also facetimed Garnet and that was lovely! Around 5:30pm I decided I need to get off my butt and go for a run. Of course just as I decided this, the light drizzle turned into pouring rain and I couldn't go quite yet. Luckily it lightened up and I headed out for my run at 6:00pm.

The first 2.5 miles of my run were okay and it was only really drizzling, but it started coming down hard for the last 1.5 miles of the run. I didn't even care that I was soaked though, I was just so happy to have finally done something productive.

When I finished the run, I went over to talk to the guy who works at the heladería (ice cream shop) on the corner of my block. He's seen me running a few times and we've said hi here and there, but today we had a brief little conversation and he invited Cassie and I to come tonight for free ice cream!! Don't mind if I do, sir.

SOAKED after my run!!!

I did a brief workout when I got home and then had to get ready to go out to dinner. Cassie and I took the subway to El Cuartito, a pizzeria, where we met Casey and his friend Jackie. That was my first real interaction with human beings today (besides words in passing with Clarisa) so that was great. The place was very cool and all decked out with posters signed by famous people, much like what you'd find in a lot of restaurants in the US.

We ordered a margherita pizza and a fuggazetta (lots of onions and LOTS OF CHEESE) and they were both delicious! We each ate 2 pieces and took 2 to go. All that cheese really fills your stomach up fast! (Plus had to save a little room for ice cream...)

Cassie and I took the subway home and luckily it wasn't raining too bad when we got off. We passed by a store called Farmacity and Cassie insisted that she needed to buy floss lol so we stopped in. I'm actually glad we did because I've been meaning to buy these cute ponytails and I finally did. Yes I know I don't need them but I got all 5 for under $1 and I thought I'd #treatmyself.

Ice on my wrist.

Just our luck, it was pouring rain by the time we left the store. We weren't too worried about getting wet, but we sure were worried about our pizza getting wet. Had to protect those babies at all cost.

I am relieved to report that my 2 pieces made it to the fridge safe and sound. I dried off as much as I could and then Cassie and I met up a few minutes later to go get that ice cream.

Cristian and Victorio, the 2 guys that work there, are SO NICE. They kept giving us a ton of flavors to try and they were all delicious! I ended up ordering quindito (kinder... it's like a cake batter type of flavor with little flakes of chocolate and caramel and really anything you could ever ask for) and banana súper (like a banana smoothie with dulce de leche in it). Incredible. And the amount they gave us was RIDICULOUS. I don't think you can really tell in the photos but this ice cream cone was massive. I always eat all the ice cream I am given and I simply could not this time. I ate about 3/4 of it. The cone plus the ice cream stacked on top of it was legitimately bigger than my face. To be fair, I do have a small head. But still.

The weight of the ice cream above the cone was too much, so, in fear of it spilling, I had to scrape the top part of it into a cup. We insisted on paying for it but they would not let us. Not gonna argue that. Aside from the ice cream, it was really fun to be there. We were joking about Vladimir Putin and other strange topics and just laughing a ton with the 2 guys. They were very funny and genuinely kind. We will definitely be coming back to this ice cream shop!!

I am now in a food coma and will hopefully recover by tomorrow morning. Peace and ice cream to all.
