August 19, 2018: The Best Waffle I've Ever Eaten

Today was easily one of my favorite days here so far. These waffles are absolutely 50% of the reason why.

Despite the highly unpleasant cold front that rolled in overnight, today was great for many reasons. I loved the way I spent my time today and I'm always happy when I feel like I used the 24 hours of a day well. I started my day by facetiming my friend and that put me in a good mood right away. Then I ate breakfast and sorted through some ish that I had to figure out. Another great addition to my morning was hearing from Emma and from another friend from home. It is honestly such a nice feeling when people show you they are thinking about you or that they miss you. Speaking of which, one of my favorite professors at Davidson (who is also my major advisor) emailed me to tell me she was thinking about me and that was so thoughtful and heart-warming.

I worked out and read some homework and then walked to a cafe to meet my Argentine friend, Facu! The name of the cafe is Caffé del doge which is hilarious cuz it just makes me think of the doge meme. My walk to the cafe felt like an excursion into a post-apocalyptic world... the streets were soooo barren (see right). Probably cuz people go HARD here on the weekends and sleep all Sunday morning haha. Anyway, the cafe was nice and it's always fun to talk to Facu because we try to teach each other slang in our native languages and it's funny to watch him learn a new phrase and try to apply it to different situations. I can't forget to mention the waffle con dulce de leche that I ordered that was without a doubt worth the 86 pesos I spent on it. Don't know how I'm gonna survive in America without dulce de leche every day...
I walked home from the cafe, finished my reading, and then started working on making a calendar for the rest of my time here. My host mom asked if I wanted some tea and crackers and I wasn't gonna not say yes. She gave me a pack of chocolate wafers and yeah I ate the whole thing. I love doing little organizational crafts like this, so making the calendar was fun and helped me feel a bit more organized with my time here. When I finished, I ate dinner - well-seasoned chicken, potatoes, and rice - and started a new reading for class. Now I've just been messing around not really doing anything and somehow it's 11:58pm! Guess I better post this before it's tomorrow...
Song Recommendation of the Day: "Peach" by Broods
Hahaha of course not! It was Facu's... but the design was too cool for it not to be included in the pic.
Was that your coffee drink too??
If only there were banana slices on it, too!! Dulce de leche is basically like Nutella but caramel flavored (instead of chocolate). I swear they put addictive substances in it...
Looks like a jar of Nutella on each waffle! Just missing the nanas!
